Death is an option


Hi there!

My girlfriend and I ended up spending the majority of the last 10 days bedridden from the flu. So that was decidedly not awesome. But I did tinker away at my laptop when I had a bit of energy to do so. This has resulted in what I deem to be "nice features, but nothing game changing".
So what does that entail exactly? Well, for starters there is something akin to a HUD in the game now. A health-bar for the player, inventory icons for equipped weapons, accompanied by what button you need to press to use said weapon and a preliminary game over screen. It lacks the animations as I haven't been at my main PC and only been able to do small things on the laptop, but I have a general idea of how I want the death animation to go down.

The idea is whenever you take lethal damage from an enemy, your body will slam into the floor (potentially with some bouncing), whilst your skull will detach from the body and go flying every which way. While this happens the camera will be focused on the skull instead o, you know, the rest of Benjamin.

Next up on the docket after I get the death animation implemented will be more weapons / shops where you can buy said weapons. So stay tuned for some big changes!
